New Sound System at The Nest Climbing
We installed quality sound equipment for a climbing facility in Hayes.
"THE EQUIPMENT IS GREAT, EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED AND EASY TO USE. FANTASTIC SERVICE AT A GREAT PRICE."
Another climbing project came our way in the shape of The Nest Climbing in Hayes, London and as keen boulderers ourselves, we were keen to help out and ensure the brand new venue was kitted out perfectly.
What were they looking to achieve at The Nest?
The Nest is a bouldering wall, workspace, gym, studio and cafe located in Hayes. It is a unique facility in a brand new high spec unit with floor to ceiling windows giving the space an open feel and flooding and it with natural light. The Nest serves the local climbing community for whom good climbing, delicious coffee and great music is very important.
With these requirements in mind when opening their first centre, having the right sound system was going to be vital in order to delight their customers. The client wanted to be certain they had the right sound system, but at a suitable cost, that was affordable.
So, why Flipside?
Rob, one of The Nest owners said "We contacted a few different companies. We immediately took to Flipside, it was very clear James knew his stuff and they were very competitive on price. James made the whole process very easy and it all went very smoothly."
"James is knowledgeable, a climber and had fitted out a climbing centre before which was a great bonus for us."
Meeting the Customer Requirements
The guys at The Nest were on a tight budget but wanted a simple PA system for background music with separate zone control over three areas. In addition to being able to play the same source of music across all three zones, with separate volume control, they wanted to be able to offer users of their studio space the ability to play audio from their own devices.
A Quality & Cost-Effective Sound System
Working to the clients budget we knew that using a multi-zone pre-amp with separate amplification would have taken us into the red in terms of the project. Instead, we opted to use three separate single-zone integrated amps from Apart in a central location behind the reception desk.
These were simply linked together so sound from the main climbing area could be piped into the co-working and studio spaces. For speakers, we opted for the VS range from Yamaha as they're extremely cost-effective speakers that look neat and sound surprisingly good for the modest cost.
Leaving the Climbers Content
It is always great to leave a job behind in the knowledge that the customer is delighted with the completed work. Rob said "James was fantastic, easily contactable and very helpful throughout. We let him know what we were willing to spend and he got us the best equipment at a great price. He even helped us test a few routes up on the wall!"
What a privilege to be able to work with The Nest team and we were indeed allowed to test out the new facility ourselves as mentioned by Rob. After the installation work, we were given the chance to have a sneaky climb on some of the first routes to be put up which gave us a great opportunity to properly appreciate the newly installed sound system. The main climbing space particularly sounds great and has plenty of bass to create a nice atmosphere to climb hard and push yourself.
